Tim, thanks for the suggestion. We've been looking into how we can make our error handling more granular and informative for developers and end users. 

Can I ask you to clarify your idea for us? Are you asking for more specific error messages for unique scenarios, or specific authorization error codes on top of 400 and 401? 

Beyond authorization, we do provide the following http response status codes in different cases.
