It would be helpful to have additional fields about the class returned by the endpoints, such as school level.

Just saw this idea. Last year we releases a set of endpoints that do just that.
The roster endpoints deliver all the section rosters for a year, including details on the section, course, students, etc. There are roster endpoints for Classes, Teams, Activities, Dorms, Community groups and Advisories.
